This month I'll be showcasing a few organizations who not only have products I LOVE but also give back to community by supporting the fight against childhood cancer.
First off
Never mind that the average cost of raising a child to the age of 18 is around a half a million dollars to start, now add on the cost of appointments with specialists multiple times a week for several years, gas and hotel stays during those trips, chemotherapy drugs, therapies and assist devices to combat the side effects from the chemotherapy, days missed from work....it piles up soooooo fast. How are you supposed to also buy normal stuff for your child, like a nice winter hat?
Luckily there is Love Your Melon. For every product purchased from their website, they give a child with cancer a free hat. This isn't just any hat, people. This is the thickest, warmest, most high-quality hat I have ever had. When I bought mine I wrinkled my nose at the 30 dollar price tag, but reminded myself that technically I was paying for two hats: one for me (a glorious rose pink!) and one for a kiddo. When it arrived, I was astonished at it's quality.
I'm actually writing this in February with several inches of snow on my patio and I have to say, I wear this hat EVERYWHERE. And I am not alone in my love for these gloriously warm knit beanies and cuff hats: they sell out super fast!
Look at that sampling of glorious colors! |
I get nothing for recommending this product, I just love their hats and what they stand for.
