In honor of September being Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, I am continuing to showcase organizations with products that support the fight against pediatric cancers. So far we have looked at Love Your Melon, and Asics Accelerate Hope.
This week let me introduce you to
Their story really blows me away. Gretchen Witt was just a mom who was blindsided by the news that her baby boy had cancer and that there was a lack of funds supporting researching effective treatments. She and a a couple hundred volunteers baked an astounding 96,000 (!!!) cookies and raised an even more amazing $400,000 (!!!!!!) for neuroblastoma research.
Apparently it blew other people away too, because that evolved into this company that last year alone gave over a million dollars to pediatric cancer research.
How do they do this? By continuing to sell cookies of course! Delicious, hand baked cookies with no preservatives or trans fats! WHAT? Yes. That's why I wanted them as a vendor for my wedding. (Well, that and you can order 144 cookies for less than $120. Crazy cheap.)
They worked incredibly well with me to organize the cookie arrival. I first contacted Amanda in January to see if they would be willing to substitute some of the flavors in the 144 cookies and also allow us to buy a sample dozen of 6 different flavors, which isn't on the website as a choice. She was so accommodating and shipped us a sampler pack of Chewy Oatmeal Raisin, Chunky Chocolate Chip, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Mint Night Chocolate, and Chocolate Almond Coconut Crunch.
Sooooooooo amazing.
And the kicker? 100% of the profits are donated to pediatric cancer research programs.
What are you waiting for? Zip over there and get some delicious cookies!
